CHINA – COVID-19
DISINFECTED MAIL LABELS
On Postcards
I have obtained a selection of postcards posted in China during the earlier days of the Pandemic in China. One particular-type of label was a coloured oval with a small image in it. These were mostly used on items which were posted by collectors and Chinese dealers, but despite a range of items of mail being produced to receive these labels they are expensive and over time have become harder to source.
With these posts I depict the front of the card, and sometimes I have more than one example of a card used with different labels. When this happens, I will show one front image and then the range of reverse sides of this type of card. Unfortunately, I do not have details of what the front of these postcards depict or what the text (sometimes mostly text) means, so you will just get an image (sorry, but then I bought these for the labels on the reverse side).
So, here are some of these:

TAIWAN CAN HELP
TAIWAN (REPUBLIC OF CHINA)
MAXI-CARD
Unknown Publisher
Ref: Taiwan Can Help 1 / 2
I do not know if these two postcards were an official release, but I do know that they are beautiful postcards and a superb addition to what is becoming an ever growing ‘Covid-19’ themed collection. The two cards each have one of the two issued Covid-19 themed postage stamps released by Taiwan on the 21st July.

This set was issued on VE Day and although that was not the end of the war itself, as fighting with the Japanese was continuing in the Pacific, this set is a general end commemoration. The images used here are black and white but have been colourised by Royston Leonard (not with total success as you will see below, but I think the work done here is quite) amazing)

There was a little issue with this design because of the train carriage colour. Tran spotters noticed that although painted green here the carriage should have been in maroon – see below magazine letter article

An advert postcard, I believe from the 1980’s, for what I believe was (is?) a collector’s shop, specialising in postcards, located in Brussels. It is a delightful design and one which has appeared in at least one of the modern catalogues that have been issued.

COMMEMORATING
BATTLE OF BRITAIN DAY
ATRIUM, IWM (Imperial War Museum) LONDON
Published by the
IMPERIAL WAR MUSEUM
Ref: PP01586
I have picked this one out for showing today because included in this photograph is the famous Spitfire fighter plane, which is intrinsically linked to the Battle of Britain, although it should be noted that a vast majority of the fighters being flown during this early aerial period of WWII were in fact Hurricanes.
The Battle of Britain Day is celebrated and commemorated every year on the 15th September.
Going back to this photograph for a minute I should tell you that is the latest version of the main entry atrium area, one designed by Foster + Partners being transformed to mark the centenary of the First World War, and was opened up, after a fairly long period of closure to allow for the transformation, in July 2014.

DIANA RIGG ….. R.I.P.
Dame Enid Diana Elizabeth Rigg – 20th July 1938 – 10th September 2020
English actress who will always be best remembered for playing the character Emma Peel in the TV series ‘The Avengers’ (1965 – 1968), but who also played Countess Teresa di Vicenzo who…. SPOILER ALERT….. marries James Bond in the film ‘On Her Majesty’s Secret Service’ (1969). More Recently came to notice to another new band of TV viewers when she appeared in the extremely popular series ‘Game of Thrones’, in which she played the character Olenna Tyrell (and appeared on a Royal Mail stamp as this character (issued January 2018).
I was very saddened to hear to today of the death of Diana Rigg as she is one of my favourite TV actresses. She would have been my favourite ‘Avenger’ on TV, but I am of the age where Purdey, played by Joanna Lumley, wins out in this competition, but Diana Rigg runs a ‘very’ close second. She also has one of the best female roles in a James Bond film, in my opinion.

CHINESE
Privately Produced COVID-19 themed
Postal Stationery Post Card Set
Official Postal Stationery Post Cards with Individually applied artwork and
Photographs depicting people in PPE, in hospital clothing, wearing masks and some depicting doctors who became known due to their involvement in the Pandemic
I found this set on the delcampe auction site. It was very reasonably priced and although not an official release, this is a privately produced set in respect of the added images on the left sides, I liked this set and felt I had to have one. Each card has two dated cancellations, one from point of departure, dated 7th April 2020, and an arrival date cancel dated 8th April 2020. There is also a pictorial Covid-19 themed chop (or special cancel) which is also dated 7th April.
I picture here the entire set, which will take up some space, but they are nice to have look through (these are not individually described as I have no source of separate information).
